THE
FONDNESS OF OTTOMAN SULTANATE TO RASULULLAH
The historical stage of ottoman sultanate
was the one who brought Islamic norms and fought sincerely to put the flag of
islam to all over the world. In every chance, the sultan of kingdom would
participate the war straightly. The blessed human realized that saving islam
was an obligation and did it with realization and carefully as a slave of Allah
and prophet’s companions.
The sultan of ottoman ustmaniyah
grew up with the fondness toward rasulullah SAW. Most of them had a very deep
and strong love in their heart. In another words, they spent their whole life
on the horseback to spread rasulullah’s name. the love which was implanted in
the deepest of their soul had made them very curious and seek everything
particularly regarding to the prophet. Their love for rasulullah was as
spiritual jihad. They had strengthened their love values in their heart before
conquering.
These noble men, had placed rasulullah
in a very special part of their heart, they kept mentioning his name in daily
life or in poems (nat’I serif), if they did not do it, it could not be
mentioned as true life. These honorable
poems which was written with tears had become interprenter the fondness of
rasulullah until today. This amazing writing had become sweet memory along the
history
Once, the sultan murad II lay
powerlessly, his eyes were gazed with a term of hand, while his ears were
locked with on the word that he would said, he moved his body slightly from his
bed and said to prime minister
“
read ishak, read the testament of ours”. Ishak pasha, the minister began to
read the testament with authority and adequately.
“
bismillahirrahmanirrahim ( in the name of Allah, the beneficent the merciful),
all praises be to Allah jalla jallahu, peace and salutation be upon the great
messenger Muhammad al Mustafa shallallahu’alaihi wassalam, my resignation is
believing in god who orders everything, everyone will come to die. Thus, do not
fall into the beauty of world and do not live with arrogance, distribute a
third of my property to saruhan province, give 3500 of gold for the poor in mecca, 3500 of gold for the poor in
medina, 500 of gold for the citizen who lives around ka’bah and for them who recites a whole Al-quran, then ask them to recite the tauhid ‘laa
ilaahailla Allah’ 70000 times, continue with reciting Al-quran many times in
order the merit of goodness will be given to those who are involved in this
testament. Also, give 2500 of it for society around mesjidil aqsa in kubbah
sadra who recite tauhid laa ilahailla Allah 70000 times and continue with
reciting Al-quran many times”.
If it is taken note of the testament
thoroughly, it is able to know the fondness of sultan murad han to Allah dan
rasulullah. Because, either Hijaz ( mecca and medina ) or kuds ( al-aqsa) was
not the territory of ottoman ustmaniyah. The love in his heart was very great,
he respected the citizen in both cities, he did not want to see them in
poverty.
In 1453, there was a young commander
stood in front of war formation of
ottoman. He built a big tent before the Istanbul fortification in order to get
good news from rasulullah SAW. Allah who the almighty, blessed him with a
submission over constantinopel in the morning of Friday. The blessed commander got out at midnight
to visit his teacher, a great noble teacher aksemseddin. He wanted to find the
grave of Ayyub Al-anshori ra, one of anshor companion whose house had been
stayed by rasulullah after the flight to madinah until the mosque of nabawi was
completely built, in the beginning of konstantinopel submission ( before it
became Istanbul), this companion had passed away there. The sultan asked for
the teacher’s help to solve the problem, aksemseddin held his hands and guided
him to the edges of halic gulf, then he
signed by his finger and said:” well, this is the place that you are looking
for”. After that sultan fatih mehmed ordered to build a mosque and a grave
there immediately, that place remains today can be visited as mosque and a
grave of ayyub al-anshori in Istanbul. We can see their love not only for rasulullah but also for the companions who
continue prophet’s dakwah.
The fondness of sultan fatih befell
to his son, sultan bayezid II. Once, he met his friend yusuf, one who also had
really loved Allah, before yusuf went to do hajj, sultan delivered him a plenty
of gold and said: “ these are my own property and I got them by lawful means, I
separated them out for the lamps in holy raudhah”, he said that if the
companion had arrived to the grave, he might tell him: “ O rasulullah, sultan
bayezid II who has a lot of sin entrusted these gold to buy the fuel oil for
the lamps on your grave, I beg you to receive this all.”
In the era of sultan yavuz salim, this
fondness was as hereditary heir. After sultan yavuz salim succed in conquering
mecca, he was named as ‘hakimul haramain’( The ruler of mecca and medina) by
the khatib and imam in jumat praying, actually that name hurted him very much.
One day, when khatib and imam remained to mention him as hakimul haramain, the
sultan corrected by saying: “ it is not hakimul haramain but hadimul haramain(
the server of mecca and medina), that’s the right one.” Since that time, the khatib called him with
hadimul haramain. After praying the sultan gave khatib a kaftan as a gift. This
event shows how big his love to rasulullah.
The sultan of ottoman did several
submissions in a number of areas by command of rasulullah from their dreams. It
was told by sultan kanuni suleyman, in his dream, the prophet ordered:” qonquer
Belgrade, Rhodes, and Baghdad fortification, then build my city” prophet said to him. Based on
this command, sultan kanuni suleyman began to build haramain( mecca and medina)
and wealthy project there. He even thought to build a special foundation to
serve the drinking water for pilgrims by his own property. His daughter, mikrimah
fulfilled her father’s passion and made some spouts in order the zubaidah’s
spring water which was in arafah could reach
mecca.
Sultan abdul aziz was a person who
really loved prophet SAW. One day, when
he was lying down, a letter came from medina, even though an official hesitated
to deliver the letter owing to the condition of sultan but he kept giving it
because the official had known how sultan considered medina. Usually, the
adjutant would read the letter then waited for sultan’s respond, but when he
knew the letter was from medina, the sultan asked to sit before hearing to the
adjutant.
“help me to have a seat, it is not possible
if I listen to letter which come from holy city while lying down” He said. Although
his legs had been trembled due to sickness and his hands were to reach the arms
of sofa, he kept listen to the reading thoroughly and immediately afterwards he
ordered what they had to do. They had to take an ablution before holding a
letter come from medina. It was caused by everything from that city had brought the aroma and dust
where rasulullah had lived. First of all
he would kiss, touch the letter by using forehead, trying to smell the aroma
and began to open the letter.
Verily, in sultan abdul hamid’s era,
he made some important achievements by providing trains in every countries. The
important traffic lane was hijaz’s strip(mecca and medina). He facilitated all
of traffic lane from Istanbul to medina for sake of safety of muslim pilgrims
who were going to do hajj and also to protect the two cities(mecca and medina).
When the construction of railway had come near to the haramain line, he only
allowed muslim workers to finish the construction. On august 31st 1908,
the last 30 km of railway had reached the city of medina, sultan commanded to
set some carpets made from wool on the railway on that traffic lane. Hence,
when the locomotif approached the city, the speed of the train would be
decreased gradually and the passengers would get off from train politely. on certain days, the carpets on the railways
would be cleaned with rose water.
Bit of what are told here trying to
describe how big the fondness to rasulullah shallallahu alaihi wassalam which
was brought by sultan ustmaniyah from the first generation to the last
generation. This is also the most important testament for us to continue, to
keep big love in our soul toward rasulullah Muhammad SAW
O
Allah Give us sense of affection for the prophet as you have given them and
hopefully we are including who receive the syafaat ( intercession) from the
prophet Muhammad SAW.
